Checked Baggage Allowance
For all classes, each passenger (except an infant) can bring a free baggage allowance of one cabin bag not exceeding 56x36x23cm (22x14x9 in) in size. These dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets. First Class, Business Class, Invitation, Diamond, Gold and Silver tier members of The Marco Polo Club (The Club) are each entitled to an extra allowance of one garment bag not exceeding 20cm (8inch) thick when folded in half, or one soft bag not exceeding 20cm (8inch) thick. For all travel classes, duty-free items are included in your cabin baggage allowance.
The total weight entitlements of your cabin baggage are as follows:
For added safety and convenience to you and our cabin crew, all travellers seated on the upper deck of our B747s are required to make use of the overhead lockers and side-wall compartments to store your luggage. We apologise the upper cloakroom is no longer available for use due to new, improved safety measures.
Due to heightened security measures at the UK, EU, North America, India, Nepal, and the Philippines airports, please Click here to refer to the latest Baggage Information.
In addition to the above allowance, you may carry onboard the following items free:
All sharp items must be placed in checked baggage. This includes knives of any sort, metal nail files, scissors, tweezers, and so on. If any of these items are found in your carry-on luggage, they will be confiscated by security, and not returned to you. Cathay Pacific Airways will not assume any responsibility for confiscated items.
Beginning 1 April 2002, for all classes, each passenger (except infants) can enjoy a free baggage allowance of one cabin bag not exceeding 56x36x23cm (22x14x9 in) in size. These dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets.
Different travel classes have different weight limits. Duty-free items will be counted as part of this cabin baggage allowance.
Baby buggies and adult wheelchairs must be checked in as hold baggage.
Lifting heavy bags will cause injury. Observing your Baggage Limitations will minimise these injuries. Whilst our cabin crew will do their utmost to help passengers who require assistance, they are not encouraged to lift and carry heavy bags. If it is found that your cabin baggage exceeds the allowable limit, it will be offloaded.
Excess baggage charges will be collected if the items exceed your free checked baggage allowance.
Cathay Pacific adopt the international standard cabin baggage policy. Individual carriers may, however, apply a different cabin baggage allowance. If your journey involves a connection to other carrier(s), you are advised to check with these carriers for details of their policies and ensure compliance.
* If you are travelling in two classes on one journey (split class or mixed class travel), you can enjoy the greater allowance for the whole journey.
